About AVHV
America’s Vets Helping Vets was founded in May 2009 following a Town Hall meeting at the local VA Hospital. The issues and topics discussed at this meeting were varied and numerous. The concerned “citizens” of the town hall--patients, veterans, family members and residents--arrived at one common conclusion: more accomplishments and solutions would be achieved if we worked together than if each party worked separately. There were also many reoccurring items that each veteran should not have to start from ground one dealing with, if someone would be the information repository and historian they could share lessons learned from those who had already walked a similar path.
AVHV Founder, Carla Renée and several other veterans began communicating with each other and working together at weekly meetings to gather information and resolve as many issues as possible. From these varied concerns they developed a strategy and plan. Since then, Veterans and their advocates have been working to address as many of these concerns as they can and forward more complicated ones on to the necessary individuals or agencies who can assist.
AVHV welcomes anyone--veteran, active duty member, reservist, guard, family member or concerned American, to contact the group. Having worked with a multitude of people throughout the community and numerous agencies, they remain certain they can make referrals for anyone who needs help beyond the scope of this organization.
